You might be struggling with end-of-year syndrome. We’re all pushing hard before December, and it can be difficult to resist that sugar hit in the mid-afternoon to boost our mood, energy and focus, but that’s only a short-term fix.

You need brain food, which conveniently can be found on a Doppio Zero menu near you! Some of our best, yummy brain foods are:

Avocado

Ah, the humble avocado - delicious, goes with almost any type of food and is incredibly healthy brain food. Avos are rich in vitamins and minerals and provide you with a lot of monounsaturated fatty acids. Some of the benefits of eating avo include:

  • Healthy skin and immune system thanks to the healthy fats
  • A healthy heart and cholesterol because of the beta sterol in avos
  • Strong bones from all the Vitamin K, and
  • Improved digestion (coz fibre).

It’s nuts

We think there’s a very good reason squirrels hoard nuts… They’re so darn good for you with all their healthy fats, antioxidants, and Vitamin E! Nuts are also high in tryptophan, which synthesises into serotonin. Serotonin boosts and stabilises your mood and helps you sleep better. An added bonus is that nuts can lower your heart disease and cancer risk.

Berry nice

Berries offer many beneficial brain effects, such as helping prevent age-related memory loss by changing how your neurons communicate in your brain, improving motor control and cognition, and preventing brain inflammation. It’s all very sciency. Oh, and antioxidants? Berries have loads of them, and they will help protect your cells from harmful free radicals.
