While every child appreciates a meal, their eyes light up when they’re given an unexpected gift. We are collecting new and previously loved sports balls to give to local children’s homes. We know that some incredible African athletes started their careers in less than perfect circumstances. Who knows how one soccer, cricket or netball could change the life of a young child. We don’t want to just feed their tummy, we want to feed their soul too.

ABOUT CANAAN
Canaan offers a couple of different initiatives in support of children in informal settlements, like Somalia Park. One of their biggest challenges surrounds their preschool and lunchbox initiative. By providing a place of safety for children between the ages of 1 and 6 years old during working hours, they are solely responsible for feeding these little people. While they take time during the day to provide mental stimulation and proper education that will prepare them for primary school, their mental focus requires sustenance.
On a daily basis, with the help of donations and volunteers, they provide over 100 meals per day, from Monday to Friday. This is usually the only meal that some of these children get, and so rely heavily on Canaan to ensure their tummy is full.
